If you could see your motherline as a thread between points, each point the place where one of your foremothers gave birth to the next mother in your lineage, where would it lead, what would it spell? What peace might you spin from it, what blessings might you discover? And what pain is held in it too, making it too sharp sometimes even to touch?
Even if your relationship to your biological mother is fraught, even if your recent motherline is full of trauma and loss, there is a thread of life, golden as what makes the morning, that stretches from womb to womb to womb into deep time, the miracle of life arising again, and again, and again, from the very earth into you.
In this recorded class, I use European fairytale motifs from stories such as The Six Swans, and creative writing exercises crafted to bring you into a place of potent imagination, to help you tend to and follow your motherline, listening for what it is most needed, what gifts these lines bear for us and our communities, and what new ground they might lead us into.
Note that this is the recording of a live class that aired on March 20th 2022.
